Copyright Registration in Pak-IPO is the legal process to protect your original creative work — like software, books, music, designs, source code and websites — through the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan. We handle the complete process for you, from preparing and filing the copyright application to following up with Pak-IPO until the certificate is issued. We also provide copyright litigation support, including sending legal notices, handling infringement claims, and filing/defending cases in court to stop unauthorized use and claim damages. Registering your copyright gives you legal proof of ownership and the right to enforce your work in Pakistan and internationally.
While trademark law protects brands and patent law protects ideas, copyright law protects the creative assets such as photographs and website content. The Case Lawyer is equipped to assist you through what can be an intimidating process to help you best protect the copyrights in your creative products.
Copyright Filing & Registration Services for Foreign Clients
We help foreign individuals, companies, and creators secure copyright protection for their work in Pakistan through Pak-IPO. Under the Berne Convention, foreign authors already have automatic rights in Pakistan, but registration provides stronger legal proof of ownership. Our team of licensed IPO lawyers handle the entire process such as copyrightability assessment, document preparation, filing with the Copyright Office, fee payment, and follow-ups until the certificate is issued. We cover software, mobile apps, books, music, films, designs, websites, and other creative works, so you don’t need to be physically present in Pakistan.
Copyright Enforcement & Litigation Services
When your work is copied, pirated, or used without permission in Pakistan, we take swift action to protect it. Our services include sending cease and desist legal notices, filing DMCA takedowns with Google, YouTube, Meta, and hosting providers, and recording your copyright with Pakistan Customs and FIA to block pirated goods. If needed, we file and defend copyright infringement suits in Pakistani courts to obtain injunctions, damages, and account of profits. We also handle licensing, assignments, and recordal of ownership changes for foreign rights holders.

With a registered copyright, you get legal proof of ownership, the right to sue infringers, and stronger protection in Pakistan and abroad under the Berne Convention. Here is a step-by-step process of Copyright Registration in Intellectual Property Office of Pakistan.
Determine Copyrightability & Prepare Documents
First, we check if your work qualifies for copyright. In Pakistan, copyright protects original literary, artistic, musical, dramatic works, software, databases, films, and more. We collect the required documents such as copy of the work, author/owner CNIC or passport copy, power of attorney, affidavit of authorship, and NOC etc. For foreign clients, documents are submitted remotely with proper attestation.
File Application with Pak-IPO Copyright Office
The application is filed with the Copyright Office under the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan in Islamabad. It includes Form-I, prescribed government fee, and all supporting documents. Filing can be done physically or online through Pak-IPO’s portal. Once filed, you get an official diary number, filing receipt and an acknowledgement.
Examination by Pak-IPO
After filing, the Copyright Office examines the application to verify completeness and ownership. If there are any objections or missing documents, Pak-IPO issues a notice and we respond on your behalf. This stage usually takes a few weeks depending on workload.
Publication & Certificate Issuance
If the application clears examination, it is accepted and entered into the Copyright Register. Pak-IPO then issues the Copyright Registration Certificate. The whole process typically takes few months if there are no objections.
Post-Registration Enforcement
Once registered, you have legal proof of ownership to enforce your rights. We also help with recordal of assignments, licenses, and renewals. With the certificate, you can send legal notices, file DMCA takedowns, and initiate litigation against infringers in Pakistan.
